Why do people listen to big pet breeder propaganda when they kill their dogs to old to breed?

Doesn't that make it obvious that they are just greedy and don't give a crap about their dogs? While at the same time running down small breeders who love their pets and breed them, producing more well adjusted puppies from parents who love their people and pass on that sentiment to the puppies?

  1. The big breeders form into Syndicates where they put out propaganda to destroy competition so they can get maximum price for their own dogs, making people fear the really good breeders. They actuall pay off insidious groups like Peta and yes, the Humane Society (which turned into a political organization long ago that doesn’t care about pets and is just out there to make money … they run NO shelters and don’t do anything for pets. They just advertise themselves and like Peta they will endorse a position for someone who pays them a lot, which is what the breeders associations do.

  2. Where did you get this total cr*p from?

Or is it just sour grapes because someone has decried backyard breeders?

  3. Excuse me but what the F*CK are you talking about? Reputable breeder do NOT kill off dogs that have been retired from breeding and I dare you to provide proof of said statement.

If ANYONE has been listening to propaganda and bullsht its you.

ETA: do us a favor and go back to the politics section

  4. Well big pet breeders are business men/women, they’re out there to make money and nothing else. If they can run others out of business and especially those who compete with their own then they can make more money.

  5. My sister in law and her father are breeders and have been breeding for a total of 35 years and they never kill the dogs that are too old to breed. They line up homes for the dogs about a year ahead of time with friends and family.

  6. Good breeding has nothing to do with big or small operations. Good breeders do health tests, show their dogs, treat them properlly and are willing to take any puppy back at any time (among other things). Just because someone “love their dogs” doesn’t mean they are a good breeder, good breeders DO NOT breed pet quality dogs, no matter how much they love them. Breeding pet quality animals is immoral and pointless, no one breeding pet quality dogs acually cares about dogs in general. If they truly loved dogs they wouldn’t use their dog as an ATM and they wouldn’t add to the dog over population problem, period-no gray area. Quality breeders do no kill dogs that don’t produce, they either retire them on the property or spay/neuter them and place them in loving homes.
Thousands of dogs are put to death every week, IMO nothing but the absolute top quality dogs of a given breed should eve be bred until all the shelters are empty. How could you support the people that bring litter after litter of pets into this world knowing full well that many of them will end up dead in shelters or at least take the homes of deserving shelter dogs. If you truly cared about dogs you wouldn’t support those kind of breeders, personally I don’t buy from ANY breeders bc my dogs are not used for shows or working. I want pets so I go to the shelter and take home lovely pets- no need for me to have a show or working dogs.

  7. What are you talking about, reputable breeders vs BYBs? Pretty funny actually. No on ever told me I was supposed to kill my b*tches that were too old breed. All this time I’ve been spaying & pampering them. Thank God you were here to make me see the error of my ways. (Pssst…. Sentiments aren’t inherited, by people or pets, but perhaps intelligence skips a generation in your family)

  8. I don’t see where you get ‘greedy’–you don’t make lots of money breeding dogs. You usually end up in the hole.

There is no way on earth that I will believe that BYBers produce well adjusted pups, healthy pups, These dogs are not tested in any way before they are bred & 99.7% of them do not know what the hell they are doing. Thus, dog aggressive dogs, ill tempered dogs, sickly dogs, deformed dogs, over bites, under bits, should & hip misalignment,….. There are just so many things wrong with poor breeding practices. Ignorance’s, stupidity, ….Poor dogs.

  9. While I realize some breeders do euthanize their old stock, there are two points to this. (And I’m not saying I agree!) To them, the breeding dogs is a business, just like cattle, horses, pigs, or other livestock. Also–and this is usually a bigger point–dogs that have been kennel born and raised generally don’t make good pets. The lack of proper socialization for that many years….well, you can imagine.

Also, I guess I don’t understand…I’ve never heard of “big pet breeder propaganda”. Just how big are you talking? Raising dogs isn’t a money-maker, so I can’t imagine them having the money to create propaganda. And I have an even harder time imagining them running down small breeders and pet lovers.

And on another point, not all people are extreme animal lovers. It is difficult to be an animal lover and have an animal business. We have a ranch, and I adore animals. But at some point I have to sort of shut myself off in order to do it. Not all of our calves will be saved for replacement or sold for show. And I get very little say in many of the treatments and procedures around here. So I have to compartmentalize and do the best I can for them when I can.

  10. Reputable breeders DO NOT kill dogs. They spay and neuter them and place them in a family home.
Quit spewing crap when you don’t have a clue what the H$ll you are talking about.
