Why do dogs get to run around and play outside while cats just sit inside all day BORED?

Yeah cats are just snotty, refined type.
No a lot of cats are ALONE all day with no toys and no friends or mental challenges. Sure it's unsafe but a shortish fun life is better than a long one.
It's like animal abuse to leave an animal in a tiny space w/ no friends or toys! Not "their problem"

  1. because cats think they are better than everyone else and dogs just wanna have fun.

  2. Cause cats can jump over fences and TAKE OFF! This is why I keep my cats indoors.

  3. Cats sleep a lot more than dogs do, whether indoors or out. It’s just in their nature. And my cats certainly don’t sit bored when they are awake – they have each other to play with as well as plenty of toys.

**Added** If people leave their cats alone with nothing to do then that’s their problem. Plenty of cats live long healthy, happy lives indoors. It’s really not that hard to keep a cat entertained – a shoelace will keep them busy for hours. And as for a short fun outdoor life being better than a long comfortable indoor one – I’d like you to tell that to all the cats who get hit by cars and are then left on the side of the road to slowly drown in their own blood. Doesn’t sound like the better option to me.

  4. My old cat LOVED being outside. She only lived for a short while though – she got stuck in the garage door and, well, I’d rather not say the rest. But I got a new cat and she loves to lay outside and chase after the birds and, to my disgust, kill the baby ones that fall out of the nest :( . Now, the mother birds watch her like a hawk whenever she lays outside! Haha! But, anyways, if they are stuck inside all day with no toys, that’s the owner’s fault.

  5. I have two. Our cats do sleep a lot but when they are awake they’ll often run around and play with each other for hours (unfortunately often at 2 am in the morning).

We also play with them and as already stated a piece of string will keep them amused for hours.

There’s also a misconception that cats are aloof and not affectionate. It’s just that they are not subservient like dogs. There’s a very old joke…

“Dogs come when they are called…. Cats have answering machines”

About sums them up I think. :)
