What kind of activities should i schedule for my dog at home to keep him entertained and occupied?
If he sits idle at home, he gets very destructive and misbehaved. He enjoys going on walks, but at home he gets bored and will start acting strange. I just want to provide him with some mental stimulation and i'm not able to.

Get him some toys to play with. Buy him a kong toy and stuff peanut butter into it. Buy him some raw hide bones. Give him plenty of exercise so he’s to tired to get into trouble/

I know this isn’t always the right answer for everyone, but the one sure fire thing to work is to get him another dog for companionship. I had this same issue and was dead set against getting another dog, but I finally caved and it has worked wonders. They play with eachother constantly and it has totally mellowed them both out. They are so happy with eachother and then I don’t feel so bad leaving for the day because I know they have eachother while I’m gone. Like I said, I know this isn’t for everyone to have more than one dog so if that’s not possible I like the kong idea. You put peanut butter in it and it can keep them busy for a long time. I’m not a fan of the chewiest while I’m not home because vets have told me they have seen too many with them stuck in their throats. I like to monitor when they eat those. The best thing is to get up early and walk them. It seems to mellow them out more for the entire day. Maybe again in the evening, but the morning time works great. They’ve been sleeping all night so the last thing they want to do is be calm. Good luck.
