What is the best kind of sushi to try first?
I have tried California rolls and I have tried similar rolls with raw tuna, but not much else. I have never been to a sushi restaurant and am going with a friend today. I scanned the menu and am overwhelmed. I have no idea what to try. I don't wanna get California rolls because I know what they taste like. What are some good things to try the first time?
I don't mind raw stuff. I have had a raw one before.

What about homemade sushi? Grab a seaweed, throw some rice in, dip a piece of salmon and throw it in. It might not be as good, but it’s really simple.

Try something cooked first like tempura. Tempura is a fried batter around the fish, crab, shrimp, etc. Try a shrimp tempura roll or any kind of fish tempura roll.
If you want raw, try a Philidelphia roll. It has raw smoked salmon, cream cheese(sounds gross but its good) cucumber, and avocado.
