What is considered too hot to be outside for a ringneck parakeet?

It is about 90 degrees during the day here on the gulf coast. Is it safet to leave the bird outdoors in her cage, in the shade, with plenty of frresh water? She seems to enjoy it...how hot is too hot?

  1. I live in Oklahoma and it gets really hot here. If you are going to take your parakeet outside, make sure its in the shade. I hang my birds’ cage from a tree branch where its always shady. I also give him a shallow bowl of water and he gets in it to cool off if it gets too hot. Make sure tho also if, hes outside, make sure there is no other animal around that may cause any harm to your birdy.

  2. your bird is native to australia. temperatures tend to be hotter and dryer than the coast. as long as your bird was acclimated to it, it will be fine. all you have to do is to get them to adjust to the weather over time. put them outside for for hours at a time, then six, then eight… you can do that all year long. your bird will be just fine.
