What causes puppies to throw up right after eating?
Just got done feeding my little guy and he threw up right after eating. Kinda looked like he didn't chew his food completely. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
PS: I have taken him to the vet already. Just curious as to what anyone else thinks it might be...
The vet said that he has lost alot of his baby teeth recently and that the new ones growing in combined with the inflammation is causing him to throw up?? I wasn't completely convinced and just wanted some other suggestions.

Sensitive stomach, crappy food, eating or drinking to fast to name a few. Why didn’t the vet tell you?
Edit: Well, at the vets point of view, think of it this way. The puppy lost it’s baby teeth, leading to irritation and inflammation, makes the puppy swallow the food whole rather than biting, which can upset the stomach leading to vomit.

Eating too fast. Try raising the bowl or invest in one that is made to slow down eating. Also, you may try feeding him smaller portions in one feeding. Example, feeding a cup, give him a third wait a minute then another third etc.

He is probably eating way to fast. Give him less food,……a little at a time. Gives his food time to digest.

Did you recently switch his food? Sometimes dogs throw it up and some dogs will have diarrhea. It could be that your puppy is eating too fast. Try hand feeding it slowly, and see if it will still vomit. Hand feeding as a pup is also a good way to food train it. (so it’s not aggressive)

sometimes they eat grass, and they throw up after.
Also too much movement and the heat

It’s probably because he ate too fast. This happens with horses too. I know with horses, we put BIG rocks in, so they have to move them around to get their food, so they have to wait a bit to get it. Maybe this will work with dogs?

It’s a puppy thing- he’s just tossing it down and not pacing himself.
Just soak his kibble, and spread it out on a cookie sheet – a little at a time. He’ll soon learn to eat more slowly, but in the meantime, help him so he keeps it down where it can do some good. It’s also best to feed him in a private place with nothing else going on, so he can pay attention to what he’s doing.
If the cookie sheet isn’t enough to slow him down, put small amounts in some of the sections of a muffin pan. If he still does it when he grows up, you can get him a special dish called Brake-Fast, which is designed for dogs like yours – but my guess is he will soon outgrow it.

Some dogs get really excited about eating and will eat too fast, not chewing. Sometimes they’re okay but sometimes they then choke and throw the food back up, and if you’re really lucky you;ll get to see them eat it again.
It’s not only puppies, I recently rescued a dog who was previously underfed. He was always so afraid that I’d take his food away and he’d eat too fast and make himself sick. He’s learned that I won’t and is good about it now, but some dogs don’t learn.
If your puppy is still doing it, try putting a little water in his food before you give it to him, just enough that the food is moist. It’ll go down much easier and you won’t have to worry about him choking. The downside is that it’s worse for your dog’s teeth, but an occasional brushing should counteract it. Good luck with your dog.

That’s most likely it. He’s upset about his teeth. Or he could be getting too excited before or after eating. Or a number of other things.
