Is there a kind of hot water pipe that doesn’t conduct much heat, so it feels cool on the outside?

In other words, with hot water running through the pipe, the heat of the hot water stays inside the pipe, because the pipe material doesn't conduct much heat. So the pipe would not even feel warm on the outside. What kind of pipe would that be?

  1. Try using a copper pipe. It doesn’t really get that hot and they are usually recommended. If you don’t like copper go with a insulated pvc pipe!

  2. You need to purchase pipe insulation. It is made of open cell foam rubber and is slit down the middle so that you can cover the exposed pipe. It is easy to install, will reduce heat loss, and eliminate condensation.

  3. PVC is a better insulator than copper. Your absolute best bet would be PVC pipe with foam pipe insulation.
