How long can I keep freshwater aquatic plants without substrate?
I am starting an aquarium and I am adding freshwater plants. The only chance I can get the freshwater plants is today (Saturday) and the substrate will be at my house by Tuesday. Will the plants survive that long without substrate? Or should I wait until I get the substrate? Its just hard for me to travel to this pet store, as it is far away, and today might be the only day I can go for a while.

Go ahead. just float them in your tank until the substrate arives.

You can keep long plants if they have roots without gavel but they’ll have to be weighed down but a alternative type of plant is one that floats.
