How long can i keep a male and female snake together in the same cage?
im looking to buy a 1.1 pair of snakes online but dont hav the cage prepared yet and want to buy them bfore someone else does and need to know how long 2 snakes can tolerate each others presence. i just need a week or 2 to get the cage prepared considering its being hand built by a relative. should i just go ahead and buy another tank for now?
if i handled them both seperatly everyday while i waited would that be ok?

they’ll usually be fine together for awhile, i think a week would be pushing it though

it depends on age size and species
most boas and pythons can be kept together as babies
king snakes and corn snakes tend to like to eat other snakes
if their adults the male might not eat because he’ll want to mate
you can put a divider in the tank plus snakes are naturally solitary and don’t get lonely

What kind of snake? Is it the blue beauty rat snakes you were asking about? They should be okay temporarily, just don’t feed them together. And you live in Arlington, TX? So do I!

as long as its not a king snake you have a decent chance…. my 3 ball pythons are always together and sometimes my rainbow is with them they are fine…. Burmese are sometimes known to be snake eaters and so are indigos and bull snakes
