How does the depo shot affect your period?
My next second shot due date is coming up soon, I been on the depo shot for almost 3 months now, when I first got it I never got my period or any spotting but as my second month reaches, that's when I begin to get a lot of spotting. Is it true if you go off on the depo shot, you will have your period constantly for 2 month and if I decide to go on my second depo shot, what will happen?

if you stop your depo shots, your period she return to normal, maybe a little heavier than usual, but not 2 months!! And if you do get the second depo shot, you probably wont have a period again.

The depo shot eliminated my period. I was on it for 2 years. It took 1.5 years to have a period again. It was the most painful period I ever had. But it only lasted a few days. And really, look up the side effects for depo, real ones. At first I thought depo was the best thing in the world. But, if you want to skip periods then keep taking normal bc, if you afraid you’ll forget get nuva ring. Because depo can cause crazy weight gain. Not like 5-10lbs, but like 10+ each year you are on it. And depo can shrink you spinal cord. Also cause depression. It happened so slowly that you don’t know what happens, just all of a sudden your heavy and hate your life, and then the longer your on it the longer it takes to get out of our system. And as you lose weight it lets a little more depo back into your system. (depo stores in fat cells). So it takes foreve to get ride of the curse of depo.

I actually was pregnant and didn’t know it when i got the depo. So I thought I didn’t have a period at all. Then when I had the miscarriage I bled for almost 2 weeks and thought it was the depo until i saw the baby.
Anyways, my cousin who was on the depo had a very long and heavy period after getting off. But I’m still on it and spot very very lightly. My mother returned to normal when she got off of it. Everyone is different

When I stopped taking it, I had to be given medication a year or so later to get things started again.
